In Pakistan, HI is addressing the needs of Afghan refugees and host communities. The organisation is providing hygiene, livelihoods, mental health, health and rehabilitation to refugees who need these services.
HI is also boosting the role of community-based rehabilitation and is supporting development policies and the commitment of authorities and stakeholders involved in rehabilitation

Notstand in Pakistan, Familien brauchen Hilfe
Seit dem 14. Juni wird Pakistan von Regenfällen in einem nie dagewesenen Ausmass heimgesucht. Der Monsun hat zu verheerenden Überschwemmungen und Erdrutschen geführt. Ein Drittel des Landes steht unter Wasser. Wir beobachten die Lage genau und bereiten einen Nothilfeeinsatz vor, um den von den Überschwemmungen vertriebenen Familien zu helfen.
Covid-19 in Bangladesch, Indien und Pakistan: Situation ist alarmierend
In Südasien ist ein sehr besorgniserregender Anstieg der Fälle der Covid-19-Epidemie zu verzeichnen, insbesondere in Indien, Pakistan und Bangladesch, wo Handicap International (HI) interveniert. In diesen drei Ländern gibt es bereits 565'000 Fälle von Infizierten, darunter über 330'000 Menschen in Indien, das damit an vierter Stelle der Länder mit Covid-19 Erkrankungen darstellt. Für die schutzbedürftigsten Menschen ist diese Situation besonders schwierig, da durch die Gesundheitskrise ihr Zugang zu medizinischer Versorgung und humanitärer Hilfe eingeschränkt ist.

Pakistan is regularly hit by natural disasters. Ongoing conflicts in the border regions are a security challenge that is detrimental to the local populations.
Pakistan is one of the worst performers in South Asia in terms of human development indicators, struggling with high inflation and is hit by economic crises. Areas along Pakistan’s borders have become more vulnerable since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan. International relations are also a persistent issue, particularly with regard to the neighbouring countries of India and Afghanistan, with which Pakistan has unresolved border disputes. Plus, 1.4 million Afghan refugees are actually in host communities in Pakistan.
Pakistan is regularly affected by natural disasters. In 2022, Pakistan was affected by flooding, described as the worst in the country's history, impacting the lives and livelihoods of millions of people, especially in the Sindh and Balochistan provinces. It was also recorded as one of the costliest natural disasters in world history.
Despite the fact that Pakistan has signed the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, very little data is available to determine the extent of disability in Pakistan.
